Hard Money Commercial Rates to Plunge in the Next Five Years

If you apply for a hard money commercial loan in California, you can sometimes get a quote as low as 9.9% or even 8.9%. Outside of California, however, you may have to pay 12.9% to 14.9%. Why the big difference in rates between the states?

California has some very progressive securities laws that allows hard money brokers to cheaply and easily syndicate groups of private investors to fund deals, as long as all of the dough is raised in California. California investors greatly prefer to invest in California, hence the big differential in rates outside of California.

A brand new Federal securities law, known as the JOBS Act, promises to allow hard money brokers to start syndicating accredited investors from across state lines, instead of just within California. With more investors eligible to invest in first mortgages, the increased competition should eventually drive down rates substantially.

On a Personal Note

There's something you should know about me, I'm a bit of a movie fanatic. It is my personal opinion that there are very few moments in life that can compare to that first time you watched your favorite movie. It's the same reason you try watching it over and over again, trying to capture that feeling you felt the first time. Sure, you can certainly find enjoyment the tenth and eleventh time you've watched the same movie, but there's nothing like that first time. The unpredictability, the entrancement, it's all so overwhelming.

I watched The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (in 3D) over the weekend, and let me tell you, it literally blew my mind. The cinematography, the fight scenes, the colors, the dialogue, it was the complete package of awesome. It might not be the best movie I've ever had the privilege of sitting through, but I can say with absolute certainty that it was my favorite movie theater experience of all time. Even if you're not into adventure and fantasy movies, it is absolutely worth watching, at least once.

Spelling Joke

My son, Mitchell, a kindergartner, practices spelling with magnetic letters on the refrigerator: cat, dog, dad, and mom have been proudly displayed for all to see. One morning while getting ready for the day, Mitchell bounded into the room with his arms outstretched. In his hands were three magnetic letters: "G"-"O"-"D" "Look what I spelled, Mom!" Mitch exclaimed, a proud smile on his face. "That's wonderful!" I praised him. "Now go put them on the fridge so Dad can see when he gets home tonight." That Catholic education is certainly having an impact, I thought, happily. Just then, a little voice called from the kitchen. "Mom? How do you spell 'zilla?'"
